The World Islands
The World Islands is an artificial archipelago in the shape of a world map off the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The islands, which range in size from 14,000 to 42,000 square meters, were created from sand dredged from the Persian Gulf and are protected by a breakwater. The World Islands are divided into four main regions: North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Each region is further divided into smaller islands, which are sold to private developers for residential, commercial, and tourist purposes. The islands are connected to each other by a network of bridges and canals, and there is a planned ferry system that will connect the islands to the mainland.
